NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING - CAPER
The City of Greenville Community Development Division will conduct a Public Meeting on Thursday, September 21, 2017 for the purpose of reviewing the Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report (CAPER).
The public meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the First Floor Conference Room in City Hall, located at 206 S. Main Street, Greenville.
The CAPER is an evaluation report outlining Community Development’s accomplishments during the 2016-2017 program year. The report examines Community Development’s activities affecting housing, the living environment, and economic development compared to the goals and priorities set in its 2016-2017 Annual Action Plan.
A draft of the CAPER is be available for online review and comment. In addition to the online version, a printed copy of the CAPER will be at the Community Development Division Office, 5th Floor, City Hall; and the Hughes Main Library, South Carolina Room, 25 Heritage Green Place.

Infill Parcel Development Program
Request for Proposals
The City of Greenville invites competitive proposals from interested parties for the development and construction of affordable housing units in the City's Special Emphasis Neighborhoods.
The City has developed the Infill Parcel Development program to expedite neighborhood revitalization and to encourage developers (non-profit and for-profit) to build affordable and workforce housing for families within the City.
The City’s Community Development emphasis will remain on providing housing opportunities for low- to moderate-income families. Proposals are due no later than 5:00 p.m., Sept. 22, 2017.

Sterling Community Groundbreaking
In celebration of Community Development Week, Habitat for Humanity, in partnership with the City of Greenville, Christ Church Episcopal, and Homes of Hope, broke ground on Joshua's Way, a new affordable housing development in the Sterling Community, at 502 Jenkins Street. Six new single-family homes and about seven rental units for seniors will be built in Sterling with construction expected to be completed in 2020.
GAP Grant Recipients
The Grant Assistance Partnership (GAP) is a combined effort among the City of Greenville, the United Way of Greenville County and the Greenville County Redevelopment Authority. GAP provides grant awards to neighborhood associations that are seeking positive community development through various initiatives and projects tailored to meet the needs of their individual neighborhoods.
GAP funding of up to $2,500 is available to city neighborhood associations located within the city's Special Emphasis neighborhoods. Projects may also address one or more of the following areas of neighborhood development: resident involvement, beautification, communication, crime prevention, housing development, organizational development, training and education and capital improvements.
The following neighborhoods are recipients of GAP funding for 2017-2018:
- Green Avenue Area Civic Association
- Haynie-Sirrine Neighborhood Association
- Nicholtown Neighborhood Association
- Southernside Neighborhoods in Action
- West Greenville Community Association
